Once upon a time, a little blog was born. And like all curious little blogs, eventually it wanted to know where it came from…..
The Librarian Next Door started as a class assignment. In the Fall of 2008, I was taking a social media course in graduate school and was instructed to start and maintain a blog as a semester-long project. I’ve always loved to read, so it seemed natural to start a blog all about books.
At the time, I knew very little about blogging and even less about the book blogging world. I simply dove in and figured it out as I went along. Now, three-plus years later, The Librarian Next Door is still reading, still writing and still making it up as I go along.
(I’m not actually a librarian. I thought I wanted to be one at one point in my life – I was even accepted into a library science graduate program. But then I decided to get my Master’s degree in something completely different. But that’s another story for another time. I do respect and admire real librarians. They are awesome.)
If you’d like to know more about me, I also write and maintain a personal blog called Ordinary Mer. You can check out the About OM page for more information. You can also find me on Twitter. See what I’m reading on my Yearly Reading Challenge page or check out the book blogs I love on my Literary Love page.
And they all lived happily ever after.
